Onboard systems: repair, servicing and installation

Systems that can end a trip

A windlass that won't lift the anchor, a watermaker with no water or air conditioning that cuts out in the heat can stop a cruise. In these systems mechanics and electrics are linked, so we look for the cause in both.

What we do

Windlasses and bow thrusters. Motors, solenoids, supply cables and protection, switches and remotes. High current and voltage drop are a common cause of poor performance.

Watermakers. Servicing, filter and membrane replacement, winter preservation, diagnosis of pumps and controls. We work with Schenker and other watermakers.

Air conditioning (HVAC). Shutdowns, no cooling, raw-water flow, pumps and power supply, including from the generator and shore power.

Fridges, water heaters, pumps and electric toilets. Diagnosis, repair and replacement, together with a check of the power supply.

New equipment. Selection, installation and connection so that existing circuits are not overloaded.

How a job works

  2. We agree the scope, parts and date. We can bring the parts or help you buy them.
  3. A deposit on labour is due before work starts.
  4. Work on board and a test, ideally with you present.
  5. A report of the work and a 12-month warranty on labour.

Frequently asked questions

My windlass is weak. What could cause it?

Often voltage drop in undersized or corroded cables, a worn solenoid or a weak battery. We measure it under load.

Do you service watermakers before winter?

Yes. We preserve watermakers for the winter and recommission them before the season.

Why does the air conditioning cut out after a while?

Usually poor raw-water flow, a dirty strainer or a power supply problem. We check the whole system.

Do you supply parts?

Yes. We can bring the parts with us or help you buy them.
