LiFePO4

Energy storage on board: lithium batteries, solar and energy balance

Switching to LiFePO4 batteries, Victron and Mastervolt systems, solar panels, energy balance and monitoring. More days at anchor without the generator.

Why change the energy system

At anchor what matters is how much energy the yacht can store and how much it uses. Old lead-acid batteries lose capacity, charge slowly and force you to run the engine or generator every day. A well-designed system with lithium batteries and solar lets you spend more quiet days at anchor.

What we do

Energy balance. We start by calculating consumption: fridge, autopilot, electronics, lighting, watermaker, inverter. From that we size the battery bank and charging sources instead of guessing.

LiFePO4 batteries. Selection, installation and protection: BMS, fuses, switches, DC-DC chargers for the alternator. All charging sources set up for lithium.

Solar panels. Choosing panels and MPPT controllers, cable runs and installation.

Monitoring. Battery monitors and control panels, for example Victron, so you see state of charge and consumption in real time.

We work with Victron Energy, Mastervolt and other brands.

How a job works

  1. Message us on WhatsApp: yacht, marina, symptom or scope of work, equipment model.
  2. We agree the scope, parts and date. We can bring the parts or help you buy them.
  3. A deposit on labour is due before work starts.
  4. Work on board and a test, ideally with you present.
  5. A report of the work and a 12-month warranty on labour.

Frequently asked questions

Are lithium batteries safe on a yacht?

Yes, if the installation has a proper BMS, protection and charge settings. That is why we don't just swap batteries but adapt the whole system.

Can I keep my old alternator?

Usually yes, but you need a DC-DC charger or a regulator that protects both the alternator and the lithium batteries.

How many solar panels do I need?

That comes from the energy balance. We calculate consumption first, then size the panels and batteries.

Do you supply parts?

Yes. We can bring the parts with us or help you buy them.
